CSP is a nationwide comprehensive stewardship incentive program that provides financial assistance to producers who are solving or avoiding key natural resource and environmental problems though the adoption of sustainable practices and systems. CSP identifies and rewards those farmers and ranchers who are meeting the high standards of conservation and environmental management on their operations.

The Sustainable Agriculture Coalition has been at the forefront of building support for The Conservation Security Program in Congress, but the CSP program has not received the support that it deserves. Members of Congress need to hear from people in their districts and states that the Conservation Security Program is an important program that needs to be fully funded. To help with that effort we have compiled state-specific fact sheets on the Conservation Security Program, which we encourage you to use in your work to build support for the Conservation Security Program in your state.

Each state fact sheet has a list of the core messages we want to convey when talking about CSP to members, the media, Congressman, and other interested parties. Below each core message in the fact sheet, we have provided state-specific data regarding CSP participation that will help you in supporting that message. We have also included a list of the possible negative responses to CSP that you may encounter, and some ideas on how to respond to them. In addition, you will find a list of resources to consult for further information on CSP and working with the media.

It is our hope, that by you using these fact sheets to promote the Conservation Security Program in your state, together we will be able to build strong support for the Conservation Security Program in Congress and secure the funding that CSP deserves.
